"We should have gone to Holiday World"
You know how they say you never miss something until you don't have it?
Well truer words were never spoken and my family's last 4 days just proved it to me.
For at least the last 4 years we have made the trip to Holiday World during the month of June. Sometimes we stayed in Santa's Lodge and a couple of times we reserved a cabin in the campground. Well this year we decided, on the advice of friends, to try Cedar Point. And that is where the "vacation from hell," as my sister and I like to refer to it, began.
So we finally get there, long story there, and we start our first day in the park. Starting with the very first person we saw that day...no one was friendly. The ticket taker was probably the most unfriendly person we saw all day. When we got past her were there any maps of the park...NO! So we spent the first 30 minutes trying to figure out which way were going and where the roller coasters my nieces wanted to ride started. During that 30 minutes we finally found a map...did we have to buy a map of the park...YES!
We stopped any number of people, who worked for the park, to ask directions to the different coasters and none of them really seemed to know anything outside of what they were responsible for. Cedar Point has "police" walking around the park. We asked them questions as we went along that first day...they never talked....they just nodded their heads or pointed.
I don't know if you know this or not but Cedar Point has 17 roller coasters all of them crammed into 1 park. I don't do coasters but my sister does. She told me after her first 2 rides that the coasters seemed slow to her and she really didn't get the thrill like she does on The Raven.
My nieces soon found out what it was like to stand in a line for 2 hours ... now that was a sight!
My sister and I split apart from my nieces and we rode the Ferris wheel ... now I know this isn't supposed to be the most thrilling ride in any park but geez ... it never felt like we really got going it was VERY slow. After this my sister and I had to BUY our soft drinks ... man oh man did we miss the Oasis that is on every corner at Holiday World ... $7 dollars later we had 2 medium Sprites!
When we found food ... 4 of us got to eat hamburgers and hot dogs for the low, low price of $47 ... can I just say the cheese wasn't melted and the burger didn't even cover the bun!
We sat down on a wall to eat, out of the sun, and a park worker started sweeping right under our feet! That is when my sister and looked at each other and said, "We should have gone to Holiday World."
All in all we had a really bad vacation both in the park and in the hotel. We never had a meal that cost less than $30 the entire 3 1/2 days were there ... we came home a day earlier than we planned.
We are using this extra day to plan a trip to Holiday World. Unfortunately we probably won't be able to get there until sometime in September ... but we'll be there!
I just wanted to let you know ... YES you do have the cleanest park ... YES you are the friendliest park ... YES the free soft drinks are important ... and YES all of that adds up to a great vacation and money well spent.
