Fireworks FAQ

Ah, the emails are dinging in at a record rate as the holiday weekend nears. And here are some answers to the questions:

Let's start with my favorite:

Q: What day will you have 4th of July fireworks?

A: The fireworks will be on Monday, July 4, Independence Day.

Q: When will the fireworks start?

A: The fireworks will begin at closing time, 9:00 pm CDT.

Q: Where's the best place to stand to watch the display?

A: Just about anywhere in the park -- as the fireworks will be launched (is that the correct verb?) from the Snowy White Gravel Road, which is north of the water park.

Q: But where would you stand if you were coming with your family?

A: The very best views, we predict, will be from the Halloween Shortcut walkway between HallowSwings and Lewis & Clark, the walkway leading to the Good Old Days Picnic Grove, the Splashin' Safari locker area (guests will have the same access they have in the water park prior to each morning's opening), Christmas plaza, and the area around The Alamo (can you remember?).

Q: Anything else?

A: Indeed. Please respect the areas that are roped off. And please note that rides, games, shops, restaurants, etc. will close at 9 pm CDT or shortly after. So if you want one last funnel cake, please get it before closing.

Q: What if I lose track of Junior and Sissy in all the excitement?

A: Look first in the immediate area and them proceed to Santa's Storytime Theater, which is located across from Kringle's Kafe. We will bring children who are looking for their parents to that area. Please also explain this to your children. And by all means, use our new Phone Find system. For groups with adults and older children, plan ahead of time to meet at the Christmas fountain.

Q: Which day will have the fewest visitors?

A: Our prognostication for the holiday weekend is that Sunday will be the slowest day. Monday will be a little busier, and Saturday will definitely be the busiest (Saturdays are always the busiest).
