Lord Chadwick?
Oh, my...
I certainly hope we're not carrying this "Chadwick" thing too far.
Surely it's not as bad as last year's many water-tower posts, is it?
But I can't resist showing you an email I received from Liz this morning. (You remember Liz--the Associate Producer on the no-I-still-don't-have-an-air-date Discovery Channel show that should be coming to a TV near you...eventually.)
Here 'tis from Liz:
Just thought I'd pop you a quick email as I clicked on to your blog and found myself laughing out loud at your last entry.
Who would have thought that when David and I coined that affectionate (if Dickensian) moniker for Chad last year, it would stick so staunchly.
There does seem to be a lesser known Dickens character called Lord Chadwick - I was trying to find a picture of him to see if there was a passing resemblance - but all I could find was this Christmas bell ornament... strangely fitting don't you think!
And Liz attached this photo that she found online:
What do you think?Any likeness?
At all?
If we added a little goatee to the ornament and wrapped Chad in a long overcoat, would it be possible?
Chad would have to work on his sideburns. That porcelain fellow looks to have very respectable muttonchops.
...if you like that sort of thing.
And does Chad sing? (We know he likes music...)
Of course, I had to forward Liz's email to the subject of the conversation.
Here's his reply:
I think I'm going to have a hard time getting my friends to call me Lord Chadwick. I guess it's kind of like Sting. How did Gordon Sumner convince people that they should start calling him Sting? I bet his friends just looked at him and laughed!
Chad
P.S. I think I'd look good in the whole cloak and top hat get-up, don't you?
Sorry to burst you bubble, lad, but ever since reading that Lord Chadwick is a bell ornament, I've had an earworm of that dreadful disco song: You Can Ring My B-e-l-l, Ring My Bell!
Suddenly I find myself warming up to the theme from The Love Boat...
