Christmas in July
... means lots of memories of our dear Santa Jim (Mrs. Koch's dad and Dan's grandfather), whose ho-ho-ho-ing filled the park when we were Santa Claus Land.
Here's the link to a wonderful newspaper feature about Santa Jim from the 1970s.

Big drops and little drops
Since Pilgrims Plunge opened in 2009, we've posted a bunch of videos on YouTube to show potential visitors what we mean by "a classic shoot-the-chute ride with a modern twist."
One of the videos has had nearly three million views; clearly this unusual-looking ride intrigues.
So it's time for a new video - in slow motion.
My favorite part is the in-your-face splashes toward the end, with all those water droplets in HD .
Beach towel optional.

A different kind of "air time" for Voyage
You know what "air time" is, right? That "tickle in my tummy" sensation when you're riding a great roller coaster.
Our Voyage has more air time than any other wooden coaster in the world.
And for that - and a few other - reasons, it gets a different kind of air time tonight - on Travel Channel!
The new show is called "Insane Coaster Wars." And tonight's episode is called Splintering Speedsters.
When the production crew was here in May, they wanted an unusual setting for their interview with Dan.
He complied:

When Dan became our new president two years ago, he was very clear about telling me he could ride Voyage once per season. Maybe twice.
All that has gone out the window as Dan learns to ride the rails:

And who is that sitting directly behind him on this ride? It's our dear "Coaster Nun," Sr. Michelle from the Monastery Immaculate Conception in nearby Ferdinand.
Sr. Michelle doesn't mince words when she talks about Voyage.
She was even quoted recently in the New York Times, calling Voyage "smoother than a baby's bum."

Here's the schedule for "Insane Coaster Wars: Splintering Speedsters":
- Sunday, July 15, 8pm & 11pm CT
- Thursday, July 19, 10pm CT
- Friday, July 20, 1am CT
- Sunday, July 22, 8:30pm & 11:30pm CT
Hope you can catch at least one of these air times!
