$360,000+ RAISED AT 'WALK TO CURE DIABETES'

2013 JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes at Holiday WorldSANTA CLAUS, IND.-----Holiday World & Splashin' Safari hosted its eighth annual “Walk to Cure Diabetes” today, raising more than $360,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Holiday World donated close to 1,300 tickets to JDRF for today’s event; those tickets were “earned” by individuals, families, and teams who raised donations for the Walk. Shelley Kirk from Fifth Third Bank served as emcee for the Walk's opening ceremony.

Holiday World has helped raise more than $2.5 million for JDRF since the park's late president, Will Koch - who was diabetic, started the event in 2006. Koch's widow, Lori, and older daughter, Lauren, were on hand this morning to thank the walkers.

Holiday World & Splashin' Safari are now open daily. New this year are Hyena Falls, four in-the-dark water slides, plus Kitty’s Tea Party, a classic tea cup ride. For more information, visit www.holidayworld.com or call 1-877-Go-Family.
