Air-time machine!
Roller coaster enthusiasts from around the world voted The Voyage the #1 Wooden Coaster on the Planet again in 2009! That's three years in a row!
"The Voyage is an air-time machine, with riders experiencing a feeling of weightlessness for a total of 24.2 seconds," says Holiday World's Will Koch. "We take the traditional out-and-back layout to the extreme, with one of the steepest drops on any wooden coaster in the world. The Voyage is 1.2 miles long, placing it among the planet's top three longest and fastest wooden coasters." The Voyage also has three sections of extreme, 90-degree banking.
"We've carved out five underground tunnels for The Voyage, which is a world record," says Koch. "And some of those tunnels are wide enough that we roar through them twice, creating a total of eight 'underground moments,' one of which includes a 'triple-down' feature."
Features
Most dramatic drops on The Voyage measure 154 feet (66-degree angle of descent), 107 feet (51-degree angle), and 100 feet (50.5-degree angle).
Size limit
New for 2010 are two Timberliner trains. The new trains have contoured seats. Each seat has an individual lap bar which will accommodate riders up to a maximum waist size of approximately 54 inches. Please note: the front seat of each train does not have a "grab bar," which may create a challenge for guests who need a grab bar when riding or entering/exiting the train; the other seats on the train do have grab bars.
