June 2009

We don't have a question, we just wanted to share our comments on your park with you. We just got home from visiting your park Sunday, June 28th.

We were SO impressed with Pat Koch standing at the front gate on a Sunday morning greeting everyone as they came in!!! How often do you see that at other parks??

Our daughter is 3-1/2 and is VERY bashful. We figured that she would not want to talk to Santa. That was the case when we first got there and Santa was out in front.

Later we went to story time with Santa and she didn't want go sit on the stage with him. She sang the songs from my lap and enjoyed listening to him read the book.

When we went back to have her picture taken with him, we were looking around in the gift shop when Santa came out of a door. He saw her and went right to her!! He knelt down and talked to her, she gave him five then gave him a hug!!! Very surprising. Then of all things Santa picked her up and carried her with him to his chair in front of all the other kids waiting for him!! Talk about feeling like a princess!! How awesome is your Santa!!

On our way home we were talking about what was our favorite part of the day and she said talking to Santa. That made the whole trip!!

My husband and I commented all day about the cleanliness of the park and your great staff. They are SO good with the little kids. Especially the ones that are bashful!!

We were very impressed with the whole park and just wanted to be sure to let you know. So many times people take the time to complain but never take the time to compliment. Keep up the good work and our family will be sure to come back and tell others!!

Thank you for a wonderful day,

Thank you and all of the staff of Holiday World.

We were there this past Monday, June 22, for our second visit.

We are very impressed by your park's cleanliness and by the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff!

We plan to make Holiday World a regular destination for years to come.

Thanks again,

"We had a blast!"

Thank you for having such a wonderful amusement park.

Last Thursday, my wife, my 2 kids, my step daughter, and I went on our first family vacation to Holiday World and we all had a blast.

My kids are 7 and rode their first roller coaster, the Raven, and boy did they enjoy it!!! From the Raven to the Zinga to Bahari to Kima Bay it was sooo much fun.

We were kinda disappointed that the Pilgrims Plunge was closed. We had been hearing commercials and seeing billboards all the way on our 3 hour trip. Then when we got there and found it, we were kinda sad. But we still had a great time.

They loved seeing Santa and seeing the Holidog statue.

This is a place that lots of families should go. The admission price is reasonable for the stuff you get to enjoy. The free soft drinks really helped out (cause it got HOT!! ), and the friendly staff you have.

The food drive is very awesome cause it helped us out with the Holibucks (paid for our lunch) and will help lots of other families out, too. Honestly that was the longest line we had to stand in the whole day.

Again thank you very much for such a wonderful time (just wanted to ride the Pilgrims Plunge!! ). You all really are #1 for Family Fun!!!

Thanks for your time & see ya next year!!!

We were there on June 21.

I wanted to let someone know that the staff there was very nice to us. They treated us very nicely.

We will be back there sometime again. Hopefully here in a couple of months. We are going to try to bring our families there.

My boyfriend and I wanted to "Thank You" for having trained staff there to assist anyone if they need help. That really helps out alot.

I won 2 tickets to come there and it was worth it. We will be back.

We wanted to let you know that we appreciate the time and effort that you put into the park for not only the adults to have fun but the children, too.

Thank-You!

Sincerely,

Eric and Carolyn

"Holiday World...what a difference!"

I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful time my family had at the park!

I have to say, with six teens in our group, the Pepsi oasis were not only one of the best ideas we've ever heard of, but also took quite a chunk of the expense off of us! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

At home, we have Six Flags/Great America which charges for EVERYTHING! We've stopped going there because everything from admission to food is so outrageous! Definitely not worth the expense!

But Holiday World........well! What a difference! Not just from a monetary standpoint either! The Pilgrim's Plunge and The Voyage were, by far, the best rides my kids have ever ridden! You've got a couple real winners there!

We found you on the Travel Channel--"best wooden roller coasters" was the topic. But we were completely unprepared for the park itself! We had a BLAST!

I would also like to compliment your employees. Everyone was so helpful and polite. Again, something we (sadly) are NOT used to at home! Smiles abounded and more then once someone overheard us in need of direction or assistance......they were more than happy to help! What a wonderful job they do! They set an example for sure!

To close, I would just like to say another big THANK YOU! Your employees and the park itself impressed us so much, and we had such a great time, we will DEFINITELY return!

Have a wonderful season!

Sincerely,

Cyndi D.

This is the 3rd year in a row we have come to Holiday World for a mini family vacation. We have enjoyed it each time.

This year there were 16 of us coming from as far as Abilene, Texas. It was a joy to see Mrs. Koch front and center on Saturday morning and also later in the day in Splashin' Safari.

Thank you for making this a safe and fun event for our family.

I have been coming since I was 4 and it was Santa Claus Land. Now I am a Grandma and still tear up when I see Santa.

Julie K.

We visited Holiday World yesterday and we ate lunch at Kringle's Kafé. We were so very impressed and happy to find that our daughter, who has many food allergies, was able to eat a full meal from your restaurant. I would just like to express my appreciation for your efforts in this area, she was so excited to be able to order a meal like everyone else.

Also we were impressed with how clean the entire park was.

We will be back!

Thank you,

"Committment"

I just wanted to say I visited your park on June 7. We have visited it every year for the last 5 or 6 years.

You have the cleanest amusement park we go to. My 14 year old daughter commented on how clean it was!!! Please let your staff know it does matter!! As visitor’s we truly appreciate the hard work and the extra staff it requires to keep a park litter free. We were there from opening to closing and never saw litter laying around anywhere. That takes people and people with commitment!!!

Rodney

I visited Holiday World on Thursday June 18, 2009, and I had the GREATEST time ever.

I have a child that is 10 years old and he has special needs, I also have a set of twins that are 6 years old. They had a wonderful time on the rides, the employees were really friendly, and the park was the cleanest I've ever seen.

There was a particular employee that day, she was a really nice girl, she interacted with the kids and talked to them about Holiday World. She was keeping the Christmas area very clean and her name was Kayla, I don't know her last name but she was really nice to the children. She made them feel comfortable to get on the rides and that made my day a lot easier because at first they wouldn't ride anything.

"Nicest EMT ever!"

Our time spent at holiday world was great on Thursday, June 18.2009.

After deciding to leave the water park, our daughter turned sick so we headed to the first aid center at the entrance to the water park.. There we found the nicest EMT ever. I can't remember her name, but it was at 4:00 PM. There we got a cold washcloth, towels and a clean shirt. I want to say that she was GREAT!!!!

"An oasis of fun"

I just want the Holiday World family to know how much I have bragged about the park. I have been to so many parks all over and I keep coming back to my favorite one, Holiday World.

I've never been to such a clean and welcoming park. I look forward every year to spend as much time as possible at the park.

My grandkids are also hooked on it. It is one the most kid friendly parks and also adult friendly, it is everything anyone could ever expect in a great amusement park.

No one offers the perks that you do or is as much fun as you are.

I LOVE this park and I am your biggest advocate! People have gone that's never gone before because I've talked them into it and they come back absolutely sold on the place.

You are an oasis of fun and freshness and a wonderful place to get away from all that is going on in this world these days.

Keep up the wonderful work that you are doing.

See you in July!!

Beth S.

I visited Holiday World on Tuesday, June 16! Just wanted to tell you that we had a great time! We loved Holiday World!

Free parking was a great plus from the start!

Park was extremely clean and all of the staff was very helpful!

I was shocked how cheap the food prices were. Free soft drinks was amazing! Given today's economy I was very pleasantly surprised to see someone that cares about today's family and making things reasonable. You are doing an amazing job and just wanted you to know that our family appreciates your generosity of not taking advantage of families. It was nice not having to worry about carrying around a drink because you didn't want to throw away a drop at the expensive prices drinks can be. Keep up the good work and we hope you stay in business a long time.

We haven't been to Holiday World for a few years! I am going to definitely make it a point to come at least once a year!

Park was so clean! Kings Island looks like they haven't spent any money on maintenance since I was in high school (20 years ago).

If we lived closer we would come more often! It takes 3-1/2 hours to get there for us so it's not an easy drive!

Again, THANK YOU! THANK YOU for keeping your food prices very reasonable, for not charging for parking, for the free soft drinks, AND for keeping the park so CLEAN!!

HOLIDAY WORLD IS THE BEST PARK AROUND!

"Super Grandma"

I visited Holiday World on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, and I want to make a few comments that truly need to be made. As someone who teaches high school and managed restaurants at Opryland Theme Park throughout high school and college, I was very observant.

At the Goblin Burger, I was impressed by Rachel. Before I could sit down, she hurried over to squeegee the table and bench. This young lady was very thorough and very much on a mission.

At the Sweet Shop, there wasn’t a line; Nathan was extremely pleasant. He told me to take my time deciding and even offered to recite the menu—good kid. I think I could probably go on about several other things.

I chuckled to myself when I saw a group of people rush up to have their pictures made with Pat at the park’s opening. I don’t think Pat realizes that she is starting to acquire the status of Mickey Mouse. Perhaps, that’s what makes her so endearing. She’s the down-to-earth super grandma everyone wants.

Not too long ago we showed up and had to stand in line for 45 minutes because the computers were down. I’ll be honest. We actually started to leave with a vow of never returning on that particular day, but life got better after we got over that hurdle.

In short, if you could let Rachel and Nathan know they are valued and appreciated, I would appreciate this.

I don’t know if Pat wants to be called “super grandma”.

Sincerely,

Dana B.

"Simply out of this world!"

I visited Holiday World for the first time on May 31, 2009, for HoliWood Nights. Before my visit, it was supposed to be my only trip to the park this year as it is a 4-1/2 hour drive from where I sit.

When I arrived in the park, I was happy not to have to flash a pass or pay a parking fee to get into the parking lot.

I was blown away by the fact that Pat herself greeted us, walked with us and joked with us.

Walking through the park, I was ecstatic at how clean the park is. You guys do a fantastic job cleaning everything.

I was even more impressed that there was healthy food available to us at breakfast.

Raven is great, Legend is fantastic, Voyage is downright amazing, and Pilgrims Plunge was an awesome experience. The rides are out of this world.

The detailed theming in the park is fantastic. It adds a very nice touch to the park and makes it very interesting. I especially enjoyed the theming as I am a Cedar Fair platinum pass holder, so I am used to riding things with little or no theming.

The free soda and free sunscreen is more than appreciated, as are the low food prices and great food quality.

I have talked to my friends about this park, and they all say it seems too good to be true. I tell them to go see for themselves.

The employees are all so friendly and helpful.. I have encountered employees at other parks that were downright rude and it made for a very bad experience.

My day at this park was so amazing that I am now planning to visit several more times this year, and I also plan on buying a Holiday World season pass on my next visit, which will be very soon.

I base my park rankings on guest experience, and mine was beyond outstanding.

Thank you for a park that is simply out of this world. As far as I'm concerned, you put Cedar Point to shame.

I will be back.

Sincerely,
Angela M.

"What a perfect Santa!"

My family visited the park on Monday, June 15.

We are the parents of 4 year old twins, one of which has never sat on Santa's lap without screaming or crying involved.

We saw Santa throughout the day in various locations and on each visit he got her a little closer to him.

Finally at the end of our day in the gift shop we once again saw Santa.

We now have some of the best pictures of our children with him.

This Santa is by far the best Santa we have ever had the pleasure of meeting and wanted to let someone know what a perfect Santa you have interacting with children at your park.

Thank you for the wonderful day!!!

"No comparison!"

Thank you for a great park.

I brought a family of four... and we had a wonderful time.

I even said hello To Pat Koch while she was eating lunch.

Pilgrims Plunge was incredible.

The park incredibly clean. Really no comparison with Kings Island, Kentucky Kingdom, or Cedar Point (we've frequented all in the past).

Please keep up the good work.

I plan on coming back for years.

"Wonderful mini vacation!"

Just wanted to thank Holiday World for a wonderful mini vacation!!! My wife, 7-yr old twins and in-laws had a spectacular time at the parks over the weekend.

Your service is unmatched in the hospitality industry....from Pat Koch welcoming us at the front to the workers throughout who ask how we are enjoying our stay and if they could do anything to make the visit better.

When I left the park, I grabbed plenty of brochures.....and I'll be "selling" the features of Holiday World, Lake Rudolph and Santa Claus, IN!!!!!

Again, thanks for a great time and we will definitely see you again next year!!!!

Ken and Amy L.

My wife and I have been coming to Holiday World with our children for approximately 20 years. We have always loved the park, and have never been disappointed.

We just came back home after spending 2 days in the park, and the Lake Rudolph campground-just the two of us for the first time. We still love the park, and had almost as much fun as the kids. We hope to continue the family tradition with our grandchildren, now.

The park staff is excellent. They are always courteous and helpful. The rides are stupendous. The new Pilgrim’s Plunge ride is super!

Thank you for a wonderful time.

Keep up the good work.

"Simply unheard of!"

I recently visited your park for the first time and I have nothing but GREAT comments to say about your park! I traveled from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to visit for my first time along with a friend.

Over the years I’ve heard lots of positive remarks about the park and have always wanted to visit this family park that cares so much about their employees and guests.

The FREE parking and FREE soft drinks were appreciated!

All of the rides in the park were a lot of fun and looked maintained. Speaking of rides, all of the team members did a fantastic job in operating the rides, especially the Voyage crew. Everyone was quick and courteous!

The lockers that were provided on the coasters and Pilgrim’s Plunge is a great idea! I was hesitant to leave my belongings behind on a shelf, but after I was explained about the usage of the locker from, I believe a Supervisor on Voyage, I felt more at ease to leave my belongings behind and not have to worry. I was again amazed that the usage of the lockers was FREE!

Food service in the park was top-notch and affordable! I was able to buy a quality combo meal for under $6 bucks! The Thanksgiving Café was also affordable and tasty! The food service team members were also courteous and professional.

Lastly, what blew me away more than anything else about your park is the fact that an OWNER of the park GREETED guests/myself as we entered the park. That is simply unheard of!

I’d just like to say Thanks for making my first visit a rewarding one. My only complaint is I wish the park was closer so I could purchase a season pass. I’ll be sure to spread around the greatness of Holiday World! This is truly a place where I want to visit each summer.

A trip worth blogging about

What a wonderful time we had visiting your park on May 29 and May 30. We had never been to Holiday World before, and we are so glad we made the trip. We've been to several other amusement parks, including Disney World, but this one impressed us the most.

The park was the cleanest of any we've been to, the staff was more than friendly and helpful, and the lines for the rides were fairly short. I also loved all of the trees and shade!

My girls cried when we left the second day because they wanted to go back.

When asking my youngest what her favorite ride was, she couldn't give us just one. She said "It was ALL fun."

We loved our trip so much, I blogged about it after we got back.

I know I will recommend Holiday World to anyone. It truly is #1 for family fun, at least in my book.

Thanks again. I know we will return again soon!

"Just amazing"

I just want to thank all of the staff at Holiday World. I brought my swim team down this weekend for a swim meet and we stayed an extra night so that we could come and spend the day at the park.

This was my first time coming to the park and I was amazed at the fact that not once did I see a piece of trash on the ground. Every employee I encountered from purchasing our tickets, the employees working the rides and in the restaurants, were all so friendly.

It was nice to see the owner welcoming people as they came in. We even saw her sweeping the floor in one of the restaurants.

There was an incident in the park and I have to tell you I have never seen such quick response time as a gal got her knee stuck on one of the fences.

Just amazing, we are already trying to figure out when we can make it back this summer. It was truly an amazing day for all of us so thank you for making it a memorable weekend and look forward to getting back soon.

My family and I got season passes this year for the first time as our girls are finally old enough to really enjoy it (Brad, Robyn, Natalie - 4 and Lauren - 3).

Sunday we were there for the third time. Got there when it opened and proceeded to do the kiddy rides and then moved back to the Thanksgiving area. The girls both wanted to do the ride that looks like turkeys and spins around - next to the cafe'.

I took both girls and sat between them while my husband took pictures. They both hollered when it spun and had fun but then I saw the attendant, Natalie (my 4 year old loved that they had the same name) had this odd look on her face as she was looking at Lauren. I turned to my right and asked Lauren if she was okay - she said 'mommy my tummy is going to burp'. I quickly made the motion to Natalie to stop the ride. She did instantly and asked everyone to remain seated as I grabbed Lauren off the ride and handed her quickly off to my husband. She never did throw up like we were thinking she was about to but the quick actions were amazing. She did a great job and didn't roll her eyes or anything that she had to stop it.

Then it got better. We saw her on a break reading a book and I walked over to thank her and she looked at Lauren and asked if she was better and having a good time.

You really have some great employees and we hope that you'll give Natalie a well deserved pat on the back!

Robyn P. (and family)

I just wanted to commend you on your excellent park and staff. This was my family's first visit to Holiday World and we were thoroughly impressed.

You have enough rides to thrill all ages, yet the park is small and friendly. Everything was exceptionally clean all day long. The prices on the food are very reasonable and offering free drinks is a big plus with a family of 5!

Everyone went away feeling happy and satisfied!

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We even had a staff member come over to us when we were sitting on a bench resting and ask us if we were enjoying our day.

I would highly recommend this park to everyone!

I recently visited your wonderful park for the very first time on May 29, 2009, for your HoliWood Nights event. I just wanted to say "thank you", I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and was overwhelmed with your extraordinary hospitality!

It is rare this day and age to find an owner who cares so much about their guests. One does not have to look far to see the pride you and your staff have in Holiday World. It was so apropos that as I approached your main gate that Friday evening there to greet me was Mrs. Pat Koch who was happy and inviting and yes, sweeping up some rare debris that did not make its way to one of the trash receptacles.

Though Holiday World is over 700 miles away and about a 12 hour drive from the Philadelphia area, I assure you my visit was worth every grueling mile! I will most definitely return to visit Holiday World, more importantly I will tell everyone I know to do the same.

Thank you very much for being one of the best amusement park experiences I have ever encountered, from the friendliest employees, fantastic service, cleanliness, top notch thrills, and outstanding value, you are certainly the crème de la crème!

First timer gives kudos to park

I just wanted to let you know that I visited your park yesterday for the first time and wanted to comment on how clean the park is and give you a kudos on that.

Not only that but it is reasonably priced and it has some of the best rides that I have ridden. The Voyage and Pilgrims Plunge are awesome!!!

Not only that but the park is really laid back and the staff is really friendly...

Keep up the great work!!!

"We are continually impressed"

Your park is GREAT! We've come most years since 2000. We are continually impressed with:

  • cleanliness of your park
  • friendliness of your staff
  • ease of parking, purchasing tickets, and getting in
  • great food values
  • prices are extremely reasonable, there are healthy choices (I had a chef-salad, my three children ate applesauce instead of fries), and it's available many places
  • LOVE the free drinks
  • what a savings to the customer! THANK YOU!!
  • great ride selection both in and out of the water park (water park is where we spend most of our time)

We feel like Holiday World is an excellent value overall. I never leave your park feeling like I've been "robbed blind" by the park.

My daughter spent a day at King's Island with her youth group two weeks ago. She spent as much money on her food and swim locker, as we did on our entire family at Holiday World.

Thank you for making Holiday World a wonderful family destination. We love it!

"Great Job Holiday World!"

Just a quick note to say how much you all mean to our family. We started coming to your park 13 years ago when our first son was born, and have enjoyed you all every year ever sense.

The park is always super clean, kind helpful employs and very family friendly atmosphere.

We moved from central Illinois to Memphis, Tennessee, last fall and thought we would try another park a little closer (Hot Springs, Arkansas). It was dirty, run down, and made us appreciate you all even more. We decided it's definitely worth the longer drive to go to Holiday World, and are looking forward to seeing everyone and riding the new water ride.

God Bless You All,

The M. Family
