Holiday World’s wooden roller coaster The Raven is highlighted nationally in this month’s Forbes American Heritage magazine.

“We are thrilled that a publication of this status would name The Raven one of the nation’s top ten coasters,” says Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari president Will Koch. “It says a lot to have The Raven ranked alongside coasters at Cedar Point, Busch Gardens, and Disneyland. We’re in great company.”

The article, written by Eric Griswold, states, “The Raven was responsible for a sudden turn in roller-coaster design. The park and the coaster designer got the idea to forgo bragging rights for height and speed in favor of focusing on the quality of the ride. The result was a medium-size ‘terrain-coaster’ that blew everyone away.”

The Raven has been praised by coaster enthusiasts since it opened in 1995. It was recently named the #2 Wooden Roller Coaster by Amusement Today, and has been featured on CBS’s 48 Hours, the Discovery Channel’s Wild Rides, and in USA Today, National Geographic Traveler, Woman’s World, and Travel & Leisure. The Raven will also be featured next summer on Great Old Amusement Parks, a nationally broadcast television special on PBS.
