Producers with cable’s popular The Colbert Report have invited Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari’s general manager Will Koch to appear on Wednesday night’s broadcast.
Koch will be part of a five-minute segment about the connection Spencer County, Indiana, has to Abraham Lincoln. The nation’s 16th president lived in what is now Lincoln City, Indiana, from the age of seven until he was 21. The show’s host, Steven Colbert, claims a strong affinity to Lincoln.
Joining Koch in the satellite interview will be Jerry Sanders, also of Santa Claus, who is a longtime student of Lincoln’s life.
“We know this is a comedy show, so anything could happen,” says Koch, who is also being asked to address his hometown’s claim to Santa Claus. “All we know is that Colbert’s guests on Tuesday are Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda, then on Wednesday it’s Jerry and me. Now that’s funny!”
The Colbert Report airs Monday through Thursday nights on Comedy Central, which has 80 million satellite and cable subscribers. Wednesday’s program will debut at 10:30 pm CDT and then air four additional times on Thursday.
According to the show’s website: “What The Daily Show with Jon Stewart is to evening news, The Colbert Report is to personality-driven pundit shows. Colbert brings his sarcastic charm to a half-hour report, tackling the important issues of the day and telling his guests why their opinions are just plain wrong.”
