We’ve just (as in just now) been asked to help a production company for the Travel Channel find their cast members for an upcoming shoot.
A shoot here. Splashin’ Safari, to be specific.
And soon. Monday and Tuesday.
And we said we would help spread the word, so here goes:

Who: Three or four friends who are 18-30 years old, athletic, clean-cut, and outgoing
When: Monday and Tuesday (September 5 & 6, 2016)

Today’s podcast recording felt like the last day of school (for those who remember being overjoyed when that day arrived; I’m not one of them – I used to cry).
We were just … giddy.
Reining in the PodSquad was nearly impossible. But we had a wicked good time and hope you do as well.
Here you go:
Below are the illustrations to go along with our constantly changing topics.
Buckle up – this one’s a wild ride!
Here’s the Planet Coaster video, showing their audio team’s visit at the 5:00 mark:
The video tribute celebrating CoasterRadio’s 10 years of podcasting is like a who’s who of coaster enthusiasts.
Justin surprised us with new menu items – all for Happy Halloween Weekends, which start on September 24.
Eric dug right in …
There’s a chocolate funnel cake (with Oreos and chocolate chips), a Reese’s Pieces funnel cake, and one with maple syrup and bacon. So good!
We couldn’t help but talk about Bert the Conqueror and his Speedo one more time. But I can’t quite bring myself to embed his video appeal (audition?) to Speedo following the news that they might be looking for a new model. #NSFW? Um, you decide.
Rock the World was a joy yet again, but those long, long hours of tear-down after the concert brought about a scary selfie from Lauren, Leah, Ben and John.
It was the 23-hour mark for Lauren. Too much caffeine and too little sleep.

And finally, the latest #HoWoPo tweet from The Coaster Crew:
We finished up with our 70 Degrees of Separation game, a promo code, and … a ticket giveaway!

Hope you enjoyed this extended-version podcast! Since today is Dog Day, we’ll take a paws to leave you with one final tweet:
Our bright-yellow water tower has been around since the spring of 2005. We’ve blogged about it often enough that it even has its own “tag,” so it you’d like to read about its assembly process and see it before it was painted, take a look at these posts.
We receive a lot of feedback. Whether on TripAdvisor, Facebook, Google, or old-fashioned email, we hear from a lot of our Guests each season.
And we read every word.
Sometimes the feedback starts with, “I don’t even know if anyone will read this …”
We not only read them, we share them with our staff. Whether it’s a compliment or a complaint – or something in between – we pay attention.
Earlier this season, we received so many comments about Emily, a Hostess in Attractions, that we nominated her for the State of Indiana’s “Hoosier Hospitality Award” – and she won! The most heartfelt comments we received were from parents expressing appreciation for Emily’s patience with their children. One child even said Emily was her “new best friend”!
Emily and several members of our Attractions team were on hand at the Indiana State Fair on Friday for the awards ceremony, which also included the announcement of this year’s recipient of the Will Koch Indiana Tourism Leadership Award. The award was created in honor of the late Will Koch, our longtime owner and president.
We’ve made it to Episode 014 and are heading into our second half-year of podcasting! (That bit of non-math makes me think of when you have a baby and at first you keep track of age by days, then weeks, months and finally years. It’s a process.)
We have many graphics to share this time around, but let’s start with the podcast itself, so you can listen while you peruse this gallery of silliness:
First of all, tremendous praise to our Splashin’ Safari team:
As we head into our 70 Degrees of Separation game, let’s present our contest question: “Yes or No, should we continue playing 70 Degrees each episode?” Simply email your answer to: contest@holidayworld.com by 2:30pm on August 24, 2016.

We will end this HoliBlog post with a tribute to Lauren, who revealed during 70 Degrees that she loves the movie Pollyanna – as especially her Glad Game.
As we finish up our “last week of daily,” we can all play Pollyanna’s game and say we’re really glad to work at such a fun park.
As a child, there were two times out of the year – back to school and the beginning of summer – I especially looked forward to because it meant – new shoes!
Since we had Season Passes to the park, we spent a lot of our time in Splashin’ Safari. In order to protect my tootsies from the hot pavement, I got to pick out a new pair of water shoes each year.
And – of course – they had to match my swimsuit for the summer.
As I got older, I continued the tradition of donning footwear when visiting the water park, and I encouraged friends who were visiting with me to do the same.
They always seemed surprised when I’d tell them they could wear their flip flops or sandals and would respond with, “What about when I get on rides?”
My answer: “You can leave them on!”
Yes, that’s right, it’s okay to wear water shoes, sandals, and flip flops in Splashin’ Safari – and not just while walking through the park – on slides, in our wave pools, and lazy river too!
Just like these folks:
In fact – we recommend it – especially the little ones.
Moms and Dads – before sliding your kiddos’ water shoes on – we suggest visiting one of our two Height Measurement Stations (located across from Monsoon Lagoon in Splashin’ Safari and across from the Applause Fountain in Holiday World) to have them measured for a wristband with shoes off.
Then – like her – they can splash, swim and slide while protecting those tiny feet.
For those of you who prefer not to wear your sandals, etc., on our water park attractions, shoe cubbies are available at the entrances to all of our slides plus Bahari River.
So whether it’s a thrilling ride on Mammoth or a leisurely lap around the river, feel free to keep your footwear on and protect your feet from the summer heat.
Congratulations to our winner: Wendy P. from Newburgh, Indiana! Wendy receives four one-day tickets to Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari plus two nights in a Christmas Cabin at Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort. Thanks to all who entered!
