The New Elevated Experience for Holiday World’s Drone Show

After a fun filled day of roller coasters and water coasters, the best way to end the day at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari is with the Holidays in the Sky Drone and Fireworks Spectacular.

And the best way to enjoy the show is with the Elevated Experience!

An hour before the start of the show, the gates to German American Bank Party Plaza in the Thanksgiving Section open to the public. Once inside, we took the ramp to the left, showed our wrist bands, and entered the private, spacious, and relaxing premium seating area for the Elevated Experience.

During the hour leading up to the show, we had access to finger-food, bottled water, and a great view of the DJ Dance Party.

We started our experience by heading down to the light up dance floor. The first half hour of the party features family friendly dance music from all eras, certain to get everyone on their feet and dancing along. Our two-year-old, equipped with the Holiday World Bubble Wand, was the life of the party, blowing bubbles for all the other kids to enjoy, while everyone showed off their best dance moves.

It wasn’t long before other children started blowing bubbles with their own wands, adding to the fun! We never had to worry about him running out of bubbles and having a potential toddler tantrum on our hands, as staff members were standing by, ready to offer refills to anyone who needed one.

After cutting a rug on the dance floor for about half an hour, we made our way back up to the Elevated Experience premium seating area to enjoy some snacks and watch the Light the Night DJ Dance Party.

We were very impressed with the selection of snacks offered. There was a variety of fruit, various cheese cubes, an assortment of cheesecake and brownie bites, along with cupcakes and cookies! Not only were the snacks delicious, but it allowed us to make the drive back home later that night, without stopping for a snack on the way. Bottled water is also included.

There is a Pepsi Oasis just a few steps from the Elevated Experience, and we LOVE free soft drinks throughout the day at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari, but sometimes at the end of a long park day, an ice-cold bottle of water hits the spot.

As we enjoyed our snacks, we looked down below at the DJ Dance Party which had commenced.

Once our toddler finished his oranges and cookie, he went back to waving his bubble wand, which is interactive with the Dance Party! From the Elevated Experience area, we could see all the Holiday World bubble wands, lighting up and blowing bubbles in sync with the music. The bubbles flowing into the spotlights made the sky look like it was sparkling!

The DJ and Dancers knew how to keep the crowd involved, doing popular TikTok dances, playing the floor is lava, and hitting beach balls throughout the crowd. The Elevated Experience offers the choice of taking it all in and watching everyone’s hands in the air from a very unique and private vantage point or going down and joining in on the dance party fun yourself!

Once the Light up the Night Dance Party concludes, the lights go off, the drones start to fill the night sky.

We had the best seats in the house.

The drone show was fantastic. I really can’t put it into words, it’s just something you must see for yourself.

My whole family loved it. My toddler sat still for the first time all day and spent the whole 15 minutes pointing and exclaiming “Whoa!” and “Wow!” Even with every holiday covered from New Year’s to Christmas, nothing made him as excited as seeing his pal Holidog lit up across the sky.

It truly is an excellent show and great way to end a fun day at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari and the Elevated Experience is the perfect way to enjoy it!

Our Biggest Show Ever Is About to Take Flight

If you’ve never seen a drone show before, it’s difficult to convey just how big a drone show is when it’s in the sky.

And Holidays in the Sky, our drone and firework spectacular, is no exception.

Last year, the show featured designs that were up to 700 feet wide. With 300 drones, our show featured HUGE holiday imagery high over the cornfields that our Guests won’t visit until Happy Halloween Weekends begin.

This year, our drones are back in an all-new show. And we’ve added 100 drones to our swarm! 400 drones will take flight nightly beginning Saturday, June 17. So it’s time to kick the summer party into high gear.

And that includes our nightly dance party.

Every evening before Holidays in the Sky gets underway, we’ll have a DJ-led dance party in the German American Bank Party Plaza. We’ll have food for sale, more free, unlimited soft drinks, light-up souvenirs for the young and young at heart, and plenty of music to set the mood as everyone waits for our drones to work their magic high above the park.

Holidays in the Sky kicks off this Saturday, June 17 and runs nightly through July 30 (weather permitting). There are only 6 weeks to see the show before it flies away. So get your tickets now!

Avoiding Crowds at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari

Riding The Voyage and cooling off with water coasters are fun; however, waiting in long lines is not. Save precious time during your visit to Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari by avoiding the crowds with these helpful tips!

The Best Days to Avoid Crowds

Wednesday is often the day that Guests can expect to see the lowest crowds and shortest ride queues. Tuesdays and Thursdays tend to pull smaller crowds as well, with weekends being the busiest time to visit.

The month matters as well; with July and August being the highest attendance months, Guests who plan their visits during May and June will see smaller crowds and more ride time!

Rainy Days Are Your Friend

Don’t let a little rain in the forecast prevent you from visiting the park. Unless a massive storm system is making its way through, rain can be a blessing in disguise. We witnessed it firsthand as a pop-up storm closed the park for an hour, and droves of people went home. After the storm passed, the sun came out, and there was barely anyone left in the park.

If you’re a Passholder, one of the best times to come up is during a chance of rain or after a rain shower.

If rain does happen during your visit and rides shut down for more than 90 minutes, the Worry-Free Weather Guarantee will be activated. The Worry-Free Weather Guarantee lets you use your ticket to visit on another day of this season. There’s no rain check needed or any extra work on your part.

Buy Your Tickets Online

Don’t start your day waiting in line to purchase tickets. That is time you could be using to get to your favorite ride! Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari offers easy online ticket purchasing. Download them to your wallet for quick and convenient scanning.

Time-Saving Tip: Look past the crowd to find a shorter queue for entering the park. When in doubt, go left, as studies show most people will follow their dominant hand, which for the majority, is right.

Rope Drop

“Rope Dropping” is a popular phrase that means arriving right before the park opens. Guests who arrive right when the park opens can quickly make their way to popular attractions to be one of the first riders.

I recommend heading directly to Thanksgiving to ride Thunderbird and The Voyage first. Thanksgiving is in the back of the park, meaning it will be relatively empty when you arrive.

After you have ridden the popular rides in the area, I would then Rope Drop Splashin’ Safari at 11am. Head to the top water coasters that you want to ride before the crowds hit during the heat of the day.

Hint: There is an entrance to Splashin’ Safari in Thanksgiving just past Plymouth Rock Cafe.

Visit In the Evening

A great time to visit Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari is after 4pm. Many of the early birds have left, families with young children are starting to head home, and dinner is on the horizon. Look for closer parking spots, shorter lines, and plenty of loungers by the wave pools.

Dine Early

If food lines seem to be endless, consider changing your meal schedule by just an hour. Grabbing your lunch or dinner before the rush or dining during off times such as 3:30pm can save a good amount of time.

Implementing these helpful tips will help keep your wait times down and your ride time up!
