Box text: “This is a story 75 years in the making. When Santa Claus Land opened on August 3, 1946, the still-in-progress park had a toy shop and a train. The Santa Claus Land Railroad and its journey through “Mother Goose Land” was the main attraction in the early years of the park, and remained the nostalgic heart of the park into its late years, changing names to “Mother Goose Land Train” and then to “The Freedom Train.” After more than 65 seasons of operation and entertaining hundreds of thousands of kids and kids at heart, the train took its final lap in 2012, and was replaced with the “Holidog Express” a few seasons later.
The engine was decorated to look like it did originally–painted blue with red accents, and the “Santa Claus R.R.” emblem on its side, and placed on display for generations to reminisce and enjoy. “The Freedom Train” is the park’s longest-lasting attraction.”
